What’s Up?

After arriving early to get the projector set up and do a sound check, I went up to the exhibition space with a few friends. As I had not seen the prints I was a tiny bit nervous. Everyone–including and especially me–was blown away by the quality and color fidelity of the images. Mark Lukes and his staff at Fine Print Imaging in Fort Collins, CO simply knocked it out of the park. Many folks asked where the prints were made.

The experience of walking through the images in such a spectacular setting was a surreal one. To see the work of 32 years laid bare on the walls for all to see was a daunting one. I could not have felt more proud.

Locals who missed the opening and those who will be visiting San Diego in the next few months can learn more about the SDNHM gallery exhibition here.

Thank you for coming to San Diego. I really enjoyed the lecture and exhibit. Wonderful job! This was my first wildlife lecture and I loved so much I purchased a CD. Great job on it as well!

A wondrous day indeed…. to a passionate and brilliant photographer that I can easily blame for deepening my photographic addiction. Your blog, books and on-line videos are all I ever needed (especially those recent Canon videos).

All the best for 2016 Arthur, may the future bring you good health so we can continue to enjoy many years of your beautiful photography, mentorship and stories.

Artie, your photographic and processing genius aside, it is your wonderfully kind and generous heart that we celebrate. Long after you are gone, there will be people who have been touched by your willingness to share your skills. Elaine is so happy to look down and see you accorded the respect and awe that your photography has earned. You never left teaching, you just walked from one classroom to another. All the best, Harry

Arthur, A grand and glorious setting to present your spectacular photographs. Hope many other galleries notice and pick up with your display. Great photographs. And as a regular reader, as are many, of your blog, I/we have seen the physical/technical/mental work that goes with capturing these Birds. All the travel, weather conditions, lugging tons of equipment, and post work with your exceptional attention to detail really is notable. You have an enormous artistic vision. Looking forward to the CD.

    Wondrous indeed. Congratulations, Artie.

  • avatar Kathleen Hanika

    Hi Artie,

The display is absolutely stunning. You’re the best! I won’t be able to make it to SD–is there any chance there will be a traveling exhibit coming to the Midwest? Also, what size are the prints? I’ve always hesitated to make prints of birds that are larger than life size, but the teacher in you has shown me that it’s not only possible, but beautiful. Thanks for all you share with us.

    • avatar Arthur Morris/BIRDS AS ART

Many thanks. The CD book will be available quite soon, Tuesday the latest. As for the midwest, let me know of a suitable venue and we can likely make it happen. later and love, artie

  • avatar Elinor Osborn

What a spectacular setting for those beautiful prints. Congratulations !!!

  • avatar Pat Fishburne

Art: If you don’t already have plans to publish those photos in a book, you should!

    • avatar Arthur Morris/BIRDS AS ART

Pat, Thanks. The exhibit companion e-book will be available no later than Tuesday. later and love to you and Stokes, artie

  • avatar Joe Randle

Congrats… Job well done Mr. Morris… Have A Great Day…

  • avatar Andy

Congrats on this wonderful event! It looks beautiful.

  • avatar Pat Fishburne

Art: Love the picture of you with your “art” — I’m sure Elaine is looking down on you and smiling! BTW, I saw two of my favorites in the Ordover Gallery picture — the male cattle egret in breeding plumage on the left and the male frigate bird in breeding plumage on the right.

  • Congratulations.

And you do cut a very fine figure, trim and dashing, standing in front of your images.

I’ll attribute the stuck out tongue to a probable demonstration of some avian characteristics to the two admiring ladies… 🙂

  • Totally awesome!

    Two things:

    1. What are plans for these prints after the show? That’s going
to take up a ton of real estate back home.

    2. In your panel you say ‘one of the premier….’ I think all us would
agree, you ‘are the premier…’ You’re so great, you also take up
    spots #2 and #3.

    Doug

  • avatar Sandy Rathborne

Congratulations Artie. The photo of you standing in front of your beautiful work–priceless!

    • avatar Arthur Morris/BIRDS AS ART

Many thanks. Dr Oliver is deadly with an i-phone. In fact, he teaches i-phone photography. a

  • Congratulations Artie, you deserve it! However, it’s a bit unnerving to see you not wearing a t-shirt. 🙂

  • Wow Artie. Spectacular stuff. Congratulations for both the exhibit and the CD!

  • avatar Mike Quigley

    Congratulations, It looks stunning.

  • WOW!!! A very impressive display of your work, BIG congrats and thanks for sharing the display on the blog…I wish I lived closer so I could see it in person. My favorite image of all your blurs is the one immediately to your left in Cliff’s i-phone-pano 🙂

  • avatar Stu

    Congratulations and best wishes!

  • avatar Richard Curtin

Congratulations! Looks like the prints have the beautiful setting and lighting they deserve.

  • avatar Nikhil
