After a great deal of thinking, I have decided to pass on the 200-400. It is just too big and heavy to act as a mid zoom telephoto for treavel. The minimum 200mm is a bit long too. I hope Canon does as good a job on the new 100-400 which I will seriously consider assuming my expectations are correct that Canon will drop the push-pull zoom and keep the light weight while making it a lot sharper. Each new lens Canon is bringing out is a huge improvement over the old so my expectations for the new 100-400 are high. I will stick with my super sharp 70-200f2.8II with 2x teleconverter for now.
