Thanks David.  It was the yellow strip that I was initially worried about but the light blue strip was actually lighter and more susceptible to over-exposure.   My main reason for staying with 8 seconds rather than going to a faster exposure was to blur the water; there was a bit of a breeze.  The other reason--you hinted at it in the second part of your answer--was to lessen or eliminate the effect of those on the deck who might have taken a step or two during the exposure.  

So all in all you did quite well.  artie]]></description>
