Hi Josh,  I never mess with the default settings.  In short I move the Opacity slider-it is hidden under the control points arrow--to 50% for Tonal Contrast, add another filter--Detail Extractor, and then reduce the opacity there to 50% as well.  Then I save it as a recipe.   I usually reduce it by half once it is applied though I often paint it in or out as needed using Layer Masks... artie]]></description>
