It is far better than rear button and re-compose when you are working with moving subjects.  This bird was advancing slowly from our left to right so using back button would have been problematic at best....  I would never use back button AF and recompose in situations like this. 

Back button active at the moment of exposure however would be just fine....  a]]></description>
