There are lots of variables here. And I did say “about +1/3 stop.” A large percentage of the frame is blue water. And then you have to ask, was the meter reading taking when the bird was soaking (less white) or when it was flapping (more white). Also, it was several hours after sunrise … I am pretty sure that zero, +1/3 and possibly even +2/3 here would have been workable. I am glad that someone is paying attention 🙂
