Excellent illustration of the principles of DOF and how one cannot easily violate physics. One practical way around this when shooting completely static subjects is to utilize focus bracketing or stacking. Real easy to do with birds - just kidding. Olympus and Panasonic cameras allow for in camera focus stacking along with bracketing (depending on the models) while the Canon R5 can focus bracket. It is my understanding that the Sony A1 does not have focus bracketing or stacking though there is no reason it shouldn't be able to do that with a firmware update.
