(The tail behind the leg doesn’t bother me.) On #2, to get another opinion expressed here, I’d say you did NOT add canvas. The far righthand ripples are brown rather than blue, probably the shadow of something outside the frame altogether. I find the color contrast distracting and don’t think you would have added it. (If you had added the ripples, to fill out the ellipse, I think you would have made the colors match.)

The head turn though could have been a little more on the our left so that we could see both eye properly without any shadow on our right side of the head.

And I’d guess that you added canvas on #2.
