I’ve only been using mine for a couple of months, but it allows me to have all my photos (and Lightroom catalogue) on my laptop and makes my backup routine simple
I paid £310 on Amazon for mine.

This situation has been serious enough that other staff members at PetaPixel have stopped using SanDisk portable SSDs regardless of their age out of an abundance of caution. I no longer use them.
