Art, I thought the sequence of the gull attacking the skimmer was easily the most compelling series of photos in the entire video. I saw many shots that I considered keepers but I don’t know how many you tagged – I guess I’ll find out in the next video!

As bird photographers we are enamored of our fluffy flying feathery friends, but behaviors such we witnessed in the video show us echoes of their true origins as dinosaurs. I was at the Field Museum in Chicago over the weekend and the behavior of that seagull reminded me of the Tyrannosaurus rex that I saw there, writ small.

Alfred, Lord Tennyson discusses “Nature, red in tooth and claw,” and that is the natural order of things. I think your decision not to interfere with the life-and-death process taking place before you was the correct one. I am glad you were there to document it.
