Then the usual BAA work (e-mail and blog stuff) and my 3\/4 mile swim. New were 20 cobra push-ups every two hours for the back\/hip. <\/p>\n<p>I went down to the lake for five minutes just before sunset and got extremely lucky; photos soon! <\/p>\n<h3>The Streak<\/h3>\n<p>Today makes one hundred twenty-four days in a row with a new educational blog post! This one took almost two hours to prepare. With all of my upcoming free time (or not &#8230;), the plan right now is to break the current record streak of 480 &#8230; Good health and good internet connections willing. <\/p>\n<h3>Booking.Com<\/h3>\n<p>Booking.Com came through for me twice again recently with both the DeSoto Fall IPT and next July&#8217;s UK Puffins, Gannets, and Bempton Pre-trip room reservations. I used the hand held <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bhphotovideo.com\/c\/product\/754508-REG\/Canon_5125B002_EF_600mm_f_4L_IS.html\/BI\/6633\/KBID\/7226\/kw\/CA6004LIFEF2\/DFF\/d10-v2-t1-xCA6004LIFEF2\" target=\"_blank\">Canon EF 600mm f\/4L IS II USM lens<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bhphotovideo.com\/c\/product\/732113-USA\/Canon_4409B002_Extender_EF_1_4X_III.html\/BI\/6633\/KBID\/7226\/kw\/CA14XEF3\/DFF\/d10-v2-t1-xCA14XEF3\" target=\"_blank\">Canon Extender EF 1.4X III<\/a>, and my favorite gull photography camera body, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bhphotovideo.com\/c\/product\/1274705-REG\/canon_eos_5d_mark_iv.html\/BI\/6633\/KBID\/7226\/kw\/CAE5D4\/DFF\/d10-v2-t1-xCAE5D4\" target=\"_blank\">Canon EOS 5D Mark IV.<\/a> ISO 400. Evaluative metering + 1\/3 stop as framed: 1\/2000 sec. at f\/6.3 in Av mode. AWB in sunny conditions at 7:43am. <\/p>\n<p>LensAlign\/FocusTune micro-adjustment: -2.<\/p>\n<p>Two AF points to the right of the center AF point\/AI Servo\/Expand\/Shutter Button AF was active at the moment of exposure. In each image, selected AF point just caught the front edge of the bird&#8217;s breast pretty much on the same plane as the bird&#8217;s eye. T the assist points surely came into play. <\/p>\n<h2><strong>Herring Gull, second cycle with shattered whelk.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Be sure to click on the image to enjoy the larger version. <\/p>\n<p>Note: the lens was rested on the window frame atop a woolen watch cap. Nearly everyone liked the second one &#8212; 0344 &#8212; best. For me it was a very close call. I liked that in 0343 that the gull&#8217;s body was more square to the back of the camera. And in 0344, everyone&#8217;s favorite, there was too much head turn for me. I was just about to convert the first image &#8212; 0343 &#8211;but when I enlarged the image in Photo Mechanic I noticed that the eye in 0344 was a bit sharper so I optimized the consensus pick.
