April Fools Day

Belated Happy April Fools Day!

I would like to wish all of you a belated happy April Fools Day. There is no 1D W and there is no EF 70-600mm f/4L IS-W with Internal Extenders USM/STM lens. If you had read more carefully, you would have already known that :).

I would like to thank Bryan Carnathan of The Digital-Picture.com who kindly granted me permission to adapt and re-publish his clever spoof here on my blog on April 2, 2014. You can read the original here. Thanks also to Ron May who alerted me to the original April Fools joke.

Bryan obviously did a great job as I have received several e-mail complaining about Canon :). Some from folks who should have known better… There are some really cool image galleries on Bryan’s site; here is a link to one of my favorites: Kid Picture.

No Spoilers Please

If you have gotten this far and have discovered the hoax, please do not spoil the joke by leaving a revealing comment. Comments made in the spirit or the hoax are fine. Thanks. artie

  • If my Guru fools me; I feel honored.

Because this means he cares about me. Where else can I get this honor!

Hats off to you Guru. I mean what I said above.

You are a wonderful man Quazi. I hope to run into you some day :). later and love, artie

  • When will I learn, you’ve done it to me again. I remember when you posted that you were getting rid of your digital camera and going back to film. You’re quite to April Foolster. Too funny!

Hahaha! Too funny. You had me at “revolutionize bird photography” and the camouflage body. I’m a Nikon user but was ready to hock all my belongings for this.

  • you got me good artie-
i was really getting pissed since i just purchased the 1dx and the 600 II. now i can breath again. that was a good one buddy.

  • This was better than your annual Art Morris switches to Nikon.

You got me good, Artie. Now, what about something for my beloved 7D?

By the way, is it true that you really “just buy what you want to buy?”

You were really got, you and Rebecca and Quazi swallowed the hook the deepest :).

Did you not read Mr. Salmon’s fishy hair gel comments????

      artie

ps: wait till you see tomorrow’s blog post!

Well, Artie, maybe you’re getting me again, but I didn’t see any fishy hair gel comments. I did see some funny responses, though, and should have picked up on them. I wonder how many of your specs will in fact be on Canon’s next camera….

But I do know that you will continue to make wonderful images with whatever camera and lens you have.

First section, near the end of the forth paragraph… Hard to miss. a

Just blew right by it. I gotta stop trying to read your blogs on my cell phone….Much easier on my laptop. Well done.

Thanks and too funny 🙂 a

      • Very funny Artie. You got me. But the more I thought about it the less sense it made because you would have lost a huge number of your followers. Keep up the good teaching!

Thanks for being a good sport. You too missed the fishy “hair gel” comment.

I do really just buy what I want. Always. As I said before, I am blessed in many ways.

  • This was TOO FUNNY Mr. Morris!!!!! The part with Rick Salmon was so funny!!

  • avatar Nate

I guess that’s why none of the info matched on the lens, should have seen that coming 😉

…now you tell me. Too late! I already threw all my gear into the lake and never heeded Geoff’s advice about using the pelican cases. Guess I’ll have to make the switch to the dark side and pick up Nikon’s 70-600 f/4L IS-W with built in pair of tele’s. I hear it’s revolutionary!

I was just about to get onto my lawyer to start proceedings against Canon for breaching my copyright.I have made the said camera in my garden shed with a few bits from the local electric shop. Unfortunately I cannot post any pics taken with the camera as it would upset too many people I will just have to enjoy them myself but if you are ever in England feel free to call in and see what you are missing.

You had me going there until the reference to the “guaranteed” release date. I knew that was fake. ;-(

    • avatar Arthur Morris/BIRDS AS ART

Thanks Bill for posting this here and not to the post. I have had to delete a few spoiler comments already. 🙁 artie

Of course, I did not want to spoil the joke. I wonder if anyone called B&H looking for my reported rebate?

        I did! artie
